Is dog grooming right for me?
There are all sorts of reasons that people might be looking for a qualification in dog grooming. Some people are just starting out in their working life, some have taken a career break for family reasons and are looking to return to the workforce, some people are coming to the end of their careers and want to try a new direction rather than take full retirement, others are unhappy with their current job and are looking for a career change.
Whatever the reason, dog grooming is an incredibly fulfilling career choice (providing you love dogs of course!). You get to care for the animals you love, keeping them happy and healthy. You are often the first line of defence in a dog’s health, being able to spot early warning signs of problems that owners might miss. You also build relationships with the owners, giving them tips,and helping them to look after their pets better.
It is often a fun environment, anything can happen when you’re working with animals! If you’re the arty type, you can let your creativity run wild when you’re styling. If you’re competitive, you can enter grooming competitions. If you want to you can set up as self employed, it is flexible enabling you to work the hours and days you want. If you prefer to be an employee, there are plenty of grooming salons where you can find full time employment.
